Whispered interpreting, also called chuchotage, consists in whispering or speaking softly while interpreting in the target language. The interpreter sits next to or near the person needing the translation and whispers what is being said so as not to disturb those around them.
The simultaneous ‘whispered’ mode is similar to simultaneous interpreting, but instead of using electronic means, the interpreter instantly whispers the interpretation of what is being spoken direct to the client in their own language.
